Panel: Improving journal review process

The review process for top optimization journals seems to be changing. Papers are getting longer with more technical content while reviewers find themselves lacking time and incentives to read papers in depth. From an editor's standpoint, it seems that securing reliable and thorough reviews has become harder in recent years. While, ideally, reviewing can be intellectually rewarding, more recognition and/or encouragement may be needed to maintain a high-quality review process. In this session, we will review the key issues and hold a panel on the topic of reviewer recognition with editors from SIOPT, MPA, MPC, and MOR. A significant amount of time will be dedicated to Q&A with the audience.
